An Old Year Reflection

 An Old Year Reflection

As this year draws to a close, I pause—not to rush forward, but to look back with honesty, gratitude, and humility.

This past year was not perfect. It was not easy. It did not unfold exactly as planned. Yet, it was necessary.

There were moments of growth and moments of struggle. Times of clarity, and times of uncertainty. Seasons where progress was visible, and others where it felt like nothing was happening at all. But as life so often teaches us, not all growth is loud—and not all progress can be seen.

Some lessons came gently. Others arrived through discomfort. Some doors opened. Others remained firmly closed, no matter how much effort was applied. And with time, I’ve come to understand that unanswered prayers are not always refusals—they are often redirections.

This year required patience. The kind that stretches your faith. The kind that teaches you to trust when there are no clear signs. The kind that reminds you that timing—God’s timing—cannot be forced, rushed, or negotiated.

There were moments when waiting felt heavy. Moments when silence felt confusing. Yet even in those spaces, something was happening beneath the surface. Strength was being built. Character was being refined. Perspective was being reshaped.

If this year taught me anything, it is this:
Growth does not always come from winning.
Strength does not always come from success.
And faith does not always come with certainty.

Sometimes, faith is simply choosing to continue—one step, one breath, one day at a time.

As the year closes, I choose gratitude.
Gratitude for the lessons, even the difficult ones.
Gratitude for protection I may never fully see.
Gratitude for the people who stayed, and even for those who left.
Gratitude for the strength I discovered when I had no choice but to be strong.

I release what no longer serves me—fear, doubt, impatience, and regret. I leave behind the weight of what should have been, and carry forward the wisdom of what was.

The new year does not promise ease. It does not guarantee answers. But it offers something powerful: another opportunity to walk forward with faith, discipline, humility, and hope.

Today, I do not demand outcomes.
I do not rush ahead.
I simply trust.

Trust that what is meant for me will arrive at the right time.
Trust that every delay has a purpose.
Trust that God is working—even when I cannot see it.

I step into the new year grateful, grounded, and open-hearted.
Still learning.
Still growing.
Still waiting—
but with peace.
